UK DNA database

May 7, 2009

Would you be bothered if your DNA (or fingerprints for that matter) were stored in a UK government database? I wouldn’t.

It’s not like the social security or employment databases, from which data on CDs, disks and USB sticks was lost by officials. There would be no need for any other data except some unique identifier like your N.I. number. What harm can it do you?

If it helps to identifier one murderer or rapist more quickly and save further victims, isn’t it worth it?

Comments and debate welcome.

Because if you are innocent this will harm your job prospects because a crb check will show that you have been arrested.

The metropolitan police has ruined the lives of many innocent people.

Im listed on the internet as having a criminal record even though I am innocent. Great data security.

Wake up and smell the crap.

I’m afraid, dlon, you’re confusing a crb check (which I and all other teachers have to have every 3 years) with a suggested national DNA database for all adults, not just those who have been arrested.
