What we and Kerry have learned in 3 days

October 13, 2012

She doesn’t pull as much on the lead and always stops if we stop, especially at the kerb. ‘Stay’ and ‘Go’ seem to be understood, ‘Sit’ most of the time, along with ‘Wait’.

She’s not a retriever and will not give up anything she has in her mouth. If it’s strong she’ll play tug-of-war with us but, as we can’t win, we decide when to stop, rather than lose. This will take some working on.

Her jaws are amazing; a ham bone last roughly 2 minutes. Today she took exception to a half a scaffolding plank I let drop onto the patio, chewed the corner off then, when I tried to stop her, picked that end up and dragged it away !!!!!!!

She now knows she can trust us to return if we shut an intervening door and when we close her in at night.

She’s adorable.

More later.
