We are dog parents!

This is Kerry:

Still looking a bit nervous

Forget all your prejudice about Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Yes, she’s strong and destroys old footballs but she’s gorgeous. She needs and gives so much love.

She’s about 3 years old, found abandoned with 3 puppies back in June or July. She was a bit underweight but didn’t seem to have been mistreated.
The puppies sold quickly but no-one wanted her. She’d been at the RSPCA Chobham. We first saw her last Friday and drove up to walk her nearly every day, finalising the adoption yesterday.
She’s adorable, great with people of all ages so far, disdainful of small dogs but she’ll need some training with larger dogs. At the centre, on walks or in her kennel, that’s the only time she has barked. We’ve been advised to keep any such meetings as brief as possible at first.

So far she has demolished a basketball, a tennis ball and a large ham bone (in about 2 minutes). You can see why you’d be wary of a badly treated, badly trained example. What jaws !

Good fun

About the only word she nearly always responds to is ‘bed’ (!?) so we have our work cut out. Yesterday she just wouldn’t be left alone and wouldn’t even sleep late into the evening after loads of exercise. We were shattered.

Nearly asleep

Today she seems a little better. How long it will be until we can leave her to do the shopping or go for a swim we don’t know.

More later.
