To lose one Ministry of Defence laptop is careless, ..

To have nearly 350 stolen or lost in the last 4 years is incompetence on a grand scale.
Some of them contained unencrypted personal data of thousands of UK citizens.
Would you trust these people to run a war, be responsible for the country’s defence, run a shop?

The report does not give any details of how these computers went missing. That might make interesting reading. If laptop computers can go astray so easily and frequently it’s no wonder CDs (again, with unencrypted personal data) suffer the same fate.
Is it just the MoD or are other government departments just as careless?
National data bases? Not if I could stop them.
