Farewell Tony Blair

May 10, 2007

What can I say that’s not already been said in the media? It’s not even worth pointing you, my readers to a web-site. There are so many commenting on Tony’s departure, I wouldn’t know which one to choose.

Will he be missed? Of course he will. Gordon will make changes and that’s bound to upset some people. He will make plans for the next five years or more and, if things go as he expects, his plans will come to fruition. Tony’s problem was that serious things kept happening that no-one expected or had planned for. Gordon could suffer the same fate. Just look at how badly Bush coped in recent emergencies.

The Iraq/Afghanistan war was a mistake from the start but, when your best ally in the World asks for your support, it’s pretty difficult to say ‘no’.

He has been responsible for many changes for the better in the life of UK citizens. They haven’t always been implemented well by civil servants or those responsible but that has rarely been his fault. Other managers and ministers have that responsibility delegated to them.

That’s enough. I very rarely make political comments.
