High-speed sex costly in Norway June 11, 2009

A man faces a hefty fine and a driving ban after being caught having sex with his girlfriend while speeding on a motorway in Norway, police have said.

“Why they did it on a highway with such a high risk we don’t know,” Tor Stein Hagen, a superintendent with Soendre Buskerud Police District, told the AFP news agency.

“[The vehicle] was veering from one side to the other because the woman was sitting on the man’s lap while he was driving and doing the act, shall we say,” he added.

“He couldn’t see much because her back was in the way.”

I make no comment!

Happy birthday to me – yesterday March 23, 2009

As it coincided with Mothers’ day, we started (after my traditional birthday and anniversary breakfast of scrambled egg and smoked salmon) by exchanging presents but mine were much better: a couple of books, CD, DVD, smart jacket for work, 3 months sponsorship of a sick dog in a home and a Ferrari driving session at Silverstone. Spoiled rotten or what?

The sun was out so we walked to a pub a couple of miles away and drank wine at a table outside then strolled back. In the evening we had a lovely (if expensive) meal at a restaurant in the same area. No gardening, no housework, no College work or car cleaning – all the usual weekend occupations. Bliss. Thank you, Sue.

It was sushi sunday – all japanese cars on show; and quite a show it was. We had a good convoy run down from Guildford and arrived for opening time. Those of us in Jap cars were lined up for viewing in the start line area of the paddocks behind it. The sun shone, which made a change from the last time I drove down there.

I had a hearty full English breakfast, then wandered around taking photos and chatting to some of the hundreds of people wandering around, looking at the cars. I only took 10 photos. They’re up on my Flickr account. Here’s one of them:

That was the last meet of the year. If you’re interested in cars, check out Goodwood’s website later for next year’s schedule.

Hampshire Hoon January 27, 2008

Definitely not a tunnel run this time but an early morning cruise around Hampshire; through sunshine and hill fog to a full English breakfast at Blackbushe airport’s cafe. Nearly 30 of us kept the staff there busy – though we had booked in advance.

Traffic lights and such broke the convoy up a couple of times. He we are in a lay-by regrouping before setting off again.

And here we are, snapped on Mark’s camera by one of the other drivers:

A good time was had by all, even if I did have to clean the car when I got home.

New Years Day Classic Car gathering January 1, 2008

This is held at a pub only a few miles down from the road from me so this morning I went along. My GTO was by far the newest car ‘on show’ there so I felt a bit of a fraud. By 10 a.m. the car parks were over half full. The front car park area contained gems like these:

Post war cars were in the side areas: E-types, Aston Martins, MGBs, Jaguars, my GTO …… and this

By noon all the spaces (and more) were taken. Show cars and visitors’ cars were parked for hundreds of yards on the main road outside in both directions, even on the grass in the middle of the dual carriageway!

Some nice cars were finding it hard to find a space.

By one o’clock I was getting cold and hungry. There was just enough space to get my car out and back on the road.

cars2sm.jpgcars2sm.jpgcars2sm.jpgThere were so many cars this time (about 60) that BCA decided it would be a static sale; just as well as the number of registered buyers was so great they overflowed the auction hall.

Lots of very old, 1930s, cars through to a few from the ’90s; quite a few Rolls-Royce, Bentleys and sports cars, three motor cycles but no vans this time.

This one wasn’t allowed to be started as it was too noisy – shame:

This is a Plymouth Prowler Junior, presented to the first buyers of the full size car:

But this I really liked. A BMW Z1 (no, I didn’t know they ever made one, either) in immaculate condition. It has doors which retract down into the body! How about that?

I spent most of the day basically being a security guard but moving them all out after the sale was interesting. For example, the starting instructions for one of the vintage cars were hand-written and covered half an A4 page. It did start, though.
